Walking Along a Country Road

My son walking up the mountain
A few years ago, I took my family on a trip back to my hometown in Italy. I was born, and spent most of my childhood, in a small rural village in the mountains of central Italy.
Even though my mother and father eventually moved us to the United States, I always had fond memories of growing us in such a quaint, lovely town where everyone knew everyone else, farm animals were your friends, and the mountain was just a short walk away.
When my two boys were old enough to appreciate the trip, I took them to visit my village. In this picture, my youngest son is walking along the quiet path that leads up the mountain overlooking my town.
He and his brother were truly amazed at the different lifestyle they found there. Having grown up in a fairly large city in the US, they had never experienced the "rural lifestyle" that I so fondly remembered. They had a great time exploring the town, and the surrounding countryside, and now they too have cherished memories from the experience.
