The Old Mule

The Old Mule

Not too far down the road from me is a huge farm, and when driving by it recently I noticed that all the mules, perhaps 12 or 14 of them, were gathered up near the road in their pasture.

Luckily, I had my camera with me, and was able to pull into the drive to grab a few shots of these somewhat unusual animals for the mid-Michigan area. Lots of cows and horses, but there are just not that many mules!

So this handsome fellow calmly posed for me, almost as if saying "You can take my close up now"! I got numerous shots of him before he slowly ambled off and the photo shoot was over, I guess...!

The other mules were curious of me, but none seemed to be quite as photogenic and as cooperative as the first mule. Had he done commercials or movies in the past, perhaps? Had lots of experience in front of the camera? I kind of doubt it, but it was great to have such a cooperative creature to take photographs of!

I changed the photo to sepia, as it seemed to suit the nature of the subject. A bit nostalgic, and a bit country.
