The turkey is one of the most famous American birds, mostly because a Thanksgiving turkey is a traditional part of the Thanksgiving feast.
Farm turkeys are much larger than wild turkeys, although they are both from the same family. Farm turkeys are domestic poultry, thus in the same category as ducks and chickens. Turkeys are bred and raised for their meat.
Male turkeys are known as Gobblers, or "Tom Turkeys." They puff up their feathers in a way similar to the proud peacock, to attract females, or hens. The turkey gobblers grunt and strut about shaking their feathers.
