The barn owl is found nearly world wide. Their wings have silent flight, and with their keen sense of hearing, they hunt their prey in darkness.

You may see an active barn owl at dawn, and on a rare occasion even see one in flight during full daylight. Because its normally a night creature, it can be difficult to get barn owl pictures unless you happen across one that is resting in a dim spot.
