Autumn in the country is a time of fabulous colors, reaping farm crops, and
celebrations of a bounteous harvest. Fantastic autumn scenery pictures allow us
to enjoy the pleasure of fall scenes year-round.
I have compiled here a photo
gallery, a collection of autumn scenery photos for all of us to enjoy. Fantastic
pictures capture a magical moments in time, and that's what I want to share with
you.
Each year, when summer
changes to winter, a spectacular show occurs in the countryside. The fields and
forests of nature paint a breathtaking autumn landscape with brilliant colors of
leaves. Flowers display their last performance of the year.
Creatures prepare for winter and many birds head for the south. The honking of
migrating wild geese flying overhead is a memorable sound of autumn.
Days get
shorter and cooler, and the nights get longer. The months of September, October,
and November are the recognized months of fall in the Northern Hemisphere. Each
fall, millions of deciduous trees begin their preparations for their dormant
winter period. Their leaves change to a potpourri medley of yellow, red, and
brown hues before falling to the earth. Pictures of autumn scenery and fall
foliage preserve this spectacular display of the beauty and diversity of
country scenery.
Maples, oaks, elms, birch & ash trees are just a few of the trees that
show
us spectacular colors during the autumn season. The fall leaves of a few trees,
including sugar maple, dogwood, sweet gum, black gum and sourwood, are usually
red but may also be yellow. Leaves of some trees such as birches, tulip poplars,
redbud and hickory, are always yellow in the fall, never red.
Evergreen trees may shed their older leaves, which often turn bright yellow,
in spring rather than fall, but they never drop all their leaves at one time,
thus staying green all year.
Fall colors are best when late summer is dry &
autumn has bright sunny days & cool nights below 40 °F. The most intense display
of autumn color occurs in areas of the Eastern United States, such as New
England, where masses of deciduous trees turn color at the same time.
Autumn
is traditionally the season of harvest time. Crops are gathered in and sold or
stored for the coming winter. This is a busy time of year on the farm.
Fall
harvest pictures bring to mind golden wheat fields and pumpkin patches splashed
with orange color. And, of course, the golden harvest moon rises in the night
sky.
Thanksgiving and celebrations of the harvest are all a traditional part of our
autumn season. The tables are loaded with a bounteous harvest and a wonderful
turkey dinner. Cornucopias overflow with good things of the country.
